Ramon Clifton Amauty, 92, of Anadarko, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 1, 2024. He was born on August 29, 1932, to Henry and May (Ware) Amauty in Lawton, Oklahoma. Ramon was the 3rd of five children. As a young child he lost his mom. Ramon was raised by his dad and various loving aunts around Hog Creek USA. He grew up and attended school, he was a star football player, graduating from Riverside Indian School. Ramon enlisted in the United States Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. He attended Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where he met his life partner and love of his life Winema McGilbry. They were united in marriage in September of 1959, to this union were born two children who were 17 years apart, Anthony and Amanda. In the mid 60's, they moved to New Mexico, where he began his teaching career. Ramon taught at Tohatchi Public School and Wingate High School. He earned a Masters Degree in education at Southwestern Oklahoma. He taught PE, Health, and Drivers Ed. He also coached Football, Basketball, and Track and Field. Ramon also volunteered to coach summer baseball league in Gallup, New Mexico. He was also a baseball / softball player himself, he played while in college. Not only was Ramon an athlete he was a singer. He sang in various choirs and singing groups. Ramon was in a quartet called "The Fry Bread Four". They said he sounded like Perry Como. He was an avid outdoors man, dad, and fisherman and fished every day he was able. He and Winema returned to Anadarko in 2000. They enjoyed retired life, going to casino's. They also followed both high school and college sports. Ramon loved being involved in church at Ware's Chapel and United Methodist in Anadarko. He was a proud member of the Kiowa Tribe. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
