Phillip Edward Maestas, 58, was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on August 18, 1962 to Felix Mestas and Dorothy Joyce Ware. Phillip passed away on November 28, 2020 in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Phil attended junior high and high school in Lawton, Oklahoma, graduating from Lawton High School. Growing up, Phil enjoyed spending time in Carnegie, Oklahoma with his grandma, Ivy Satepauhoodle Ware, along with his aunts, uncles, and cousins. While he was growing up, his favorite thing was spending vacations with his dad in Gallup.
Phillip graduated with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Law Enforcement Administration from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, and was an avid OU Football fan. He worked in various places in both New Mexico and Oklahoma. Phillip took much pride in his time working at the BIA Indian Police Academy in Artesia, New Mexico and as a Juvenile Probation Officer in Gallup, New Mexico. Phil enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, playing softball, watching his children play sports, and riding his motorcycle.
Phillip is survived by one son, Ian Maestas of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; one daughter, Paige Maestas of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; two sisters, Donna Richey of Anadarko, Oklahoma, Cipri Mansfield, Missouri.
Phillip is preceded in death by his parents, Felix Mestas and Dorothy J. Ware; brother, Julian Mestas; sister, Annie Edwards.
Memorial services for Phillip Maestas will be on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 2:00pm at the Satepauhoodle Family Cemetery in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Officiating will be Tim Yeaquo. Under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home in Carnegie, Oklahoma.
