Pauline Groseclose Sherrin, 76, of Carnegie, OK passed away Saturday, March 10th, 2012 at the Carnegie Hospital. Pauline was born June 28, 1935 in Anadarko, OK to Paul and Lorene (McCalip) Groseclose. She was the oldest of four children. Pauline has lived in many places and has done many different things. The one thing that she did where ever she lived was sew. Whether it was for her family or other people, it was her passion. She was very talented whether she was piecing a quilt, painting on a sweat shirt, or sewing a western shirt for her sons and grandsons. When she retired, she bought a quilting machine. She machine quilted the quilts she had pieced as well as quilts from other people. She also attended Hotel/Motel Management School and worked as assistant manager of the Econo Lodge in Altus for a few years. She left Altus and moved to Tulsa to be close to her parents who were having some health problems. When her husband, Andy Sherrin, passed away September 30, 1999, she returned to managing a hotel in Oklahoma City and then in Weatherford. But once again her passion for sewing returned and she moved to Carnegie where she opened S & W Embroidery and Machine Quilting in 2001. She was able to work along side her mother for a few years before health problems kept Lorene at home. Pauline quilted quilts for customers all over the United States. Another passion of Pauline's was family genealogy. She loved having family reunions whether it was on the Groseclose side of her family or on the McCalip side of her family. She knew detailed family history of the Groseclose's and attended family reunions in Virginia every three years. While she was married to her first husband, Ray Williams, Pauline developed a love of racing. Ray raced cars at Saugus Speedway in California with Pauline and his children cheering him on. She drove a race car in a Powder Puff race one year. Her love of racing never died. She went to the races with her mother every Saturday night at Dutton's Speedway.
