Pauline Humphreys

November 2, 1925 — June 20, 2017

Pauline Humphreys was born November 2, 1925, to Ida Madden and Millard F. Madden in Booneville, Arkansas. She passed away on June 20, 2017, in Cordell. At a very young age her family moved from Arkansas to western Oklahoma near the Elk City area. She met the love of her life Elmer Humphreys, and, after a brief courtship, they married on December 20, 1943 in Cordell, Oklahoma, just days before he was called away to war. Pauline spent most of her life as a homemaker except for her treasured days at the Elk City hospital working as a nurse and also worked at the Federal Crop Insurance office in Cordell. She was very well known for her beautiful flowers. In addition to creating a showplace out of their country home, she managed to earn "Yard of the Week" with her potted plants after moving into town to a condo with no "yard". Pauline was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will long be remembered for her words of wisdom, her stunning beauty, and her infectious laugh.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer Humphreys, five brothers, three sisters, and infant daughter Patricia Layne.

Pauline is survived by two sons: Michael and wife Judy Humphreys of Afton, Oklahoma
Perry Humphreys of Jones, Oklahoma;
daughter-in-law: Kathy Tarbox of Amarillo, Texas;
four granddaughters: Tracey Smith of Flowood, Mississippi;
Sherri and husband Robert Waldrop of Cordell, OK;
