Paul Religh Walker passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024, four months and 1 day after the
passing of his beloved wife Virginia.
Paul was born in El Reno, OK on September 4, 1927 and grew up in the Lake Valley area. After being
honorably discharged from the US Army in 1948, Paul went to work hauling cattle for Troy Maddox.
Dale, Troy's son, would go on to be his best man at his wedding to Virginia on March 20, 1959. In
1962, with the impending arrival of his first child Tony, Paul went to work for the county and was
then blessed with a second child, Cara, 4 years later. Paul continued to work for the county until his
semi-retirement then permanent retirement in 2017.
A horseman and cowboy, he quickly recruited his wife and children to join him in his love of all
things horses and rodeo. A rodeo friend once said, 'you never know what Paul will back out of his
trailer, but it's always a good one'. Paul was a calf roper and team roper and was happiest on the
back of a horse, either roping at home, at a rodeo, or rounding up strays for friends.
Paul is survived by his son, Tony Walker of Cordell and his daughter, Cara Walker and son-in-law
Tom Hawkins of Stillwater, OK. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia, mother Eva Walker
Flatt and stepfather Ruell Flatt.
