Paul Berndsen

Paul Berndsen went to his final resting place Friday, November 13, 2015. Paul was born at home on August 30, 1932 to Leo and Gladys (Orrell) Berndsen. He attended Fort Cobb and Washita schools, graduating in 1950 from Washita. Paul was a pillar of the community of Fort Cobb, never living more than 5 miles from the home where he was born.
Paul is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mona Jean (Holdge) Berndsen; one daughter: Paula Turney and husband, Marvin Turney of Richardson, Texas; two sons: Roy Berndsen of Fort Cobb, and Robert Berndsen and wife, Kathy, of Marlow. Paul also leaves behind grandchildren: Jon Turney and wife, Jamie, of Honolulu, HI; Rachel Turney of Richardson, TX, Angie Davis and husband, Brad, of Fort Cobb, Devon Berndsen and wife, Courtney, of Fort Cobb, Terri Bryan of Edmond, Jessica Turner of Edmond, and Leo Berndsen of Chickasha. Paul's great grandchildren include Isabella and Amber Turney, Erica Smith and Steven Smith, Talon Davis, Daxton and Kimber Berndsen, Ryleigh, Kaelyn, and Blacyn Berndsen, Rocker Berndsen. His great-great granddaughters: Breckley and Lilly Smith. Paul also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Paul was a life-long farmer and rancher in Caddo County. He was co-owner of Berndsen Feed Store in Fort Cobb for many years. He served on the Fort Cobb School Board for 20 plus years. He was a member of Hopewell Missionary Church for many years and later a member of First Baptist Church, Fort Cobb.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Gladys Berndsen, an infant brother, Bernard Berndsen, and his daughter, Pam Turner.
Paul's greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He delighted in seeing his children and grandchildren play sports, attend stock shows, rodeos and participate in activities they enjoyed. Watching his great and great-great grandchildren play with the toys from the toy closet and listening to stories of their adventures brought him many hours of enjoyment. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Visitation: Sunday, November 15, 2015 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday: 9:00 AM-6:00 PM and
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 17, 2015
First Baptist Church of Ft. Cobb, OK
Burial will follow at Ft. Cobb Cemetery under the direction of Steverson Funeral Home.
