Patricia West

Patricia Jane (Edwards) Strouse West, 85, of Hobart, OK went to be with her Lord on December 24th, 2018 in Oklahoma City, OK.
Born in Tipton, OK on September 13, 1933 to Joseph Daniel and Bertha M (Landrum) Edwards she spent many summers visiting family in Hobart. She met her husband of 58 years, Raymond Dean West, in Wichita, KS and they were married in Winterhaven, CA on September 12, 1960.
Patricia attended cosmetology school and was a hair color model for Helene Curtis. She spent much of her time assisting those in need by volunteering in hospitals and with Family Services (USAF). She was also a Neighborhood Chairman of Tres Condados Girl Scouts Council (CA) and started their first special needs troop in 1968. Upon retirement of her husband from the USAF she joined him in over the road truck driving as she loved to travel. She especially enjoyed her vacation to Germany and Paris and Normandy France. She participated in Toastmistress and was a Lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star and Acacia White Shrine.
She was accomplished in many forms of needle crafts and enjoyed designing and making clothes for her children and grandchildren, making Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls and piecing quilt tops. She was also a consummate chef being able to cook for two or twenty-two with equal ease - her holiday meals were legendary in beauty and flavor often attended by her extended family. She loved to ballroom dance with her husband, reading good western books, watching forensic type TV shows, doing family genealogy and the company of her canine friends. A cup of coffee and great conversations were part of her daily ritual.
Patricia was an ardent supporter of and anchor to her family and friends. She believed deeply in Jesus her Savior, education, helping others in need and always telling the unvarnished truth with tact. She was a strong, classy, sassy and fun loving lady - beautiful inside and out. Pat never met a stranger and was willing to talk with anyone. She was a caring, loving and generous daughter, wife, mother, Mimi and friend. She will be sorely missed and remembered with love.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Raymond West, of the home,
4 sons: Robert D. Strouse of the home,
Steven K. Strouse of Duncan, Oklahoma,
Joseph B. Strouse of the home,
Kipp H. and wife Judy A. West of Church Hill, Tennessee,
2 daughters: Kimberly M. and husband Danny D. Bettinger of McAlester, Oklahoma,
Connie L. West of Hobart, Oklahoma,
1 brother Joseph Daniel Edwards of Norman, OK
12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends including
a special friend and 'adopted' daughter, Kathy and her husband, Jerry Lonewolf.


Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, brother Kenneth N. Edwards, sister Carol S. Brandon, and great-grandson Steven R. Hitchcock.
