Ovid Allan Grantz

Ovid Allan Grantz, 91, of Hobart, Oklahoma passed away May 7, 2019. He was born on November 30, 1927 in Douglas, Oklahoma to Lewis Henry and Clara Evalena (Moulton) Grantz. He married Laura Janette Dole on February 2, 1951 in the First Baptist Church in Morrison, Oklahoma. After O.A. and Janette were married, they moved to Enid, Oklahoma where he worked at Gold Spot Dariy. He won awards for his recipes for making ice cream. O.A.'s steps to the ministry began at the age of 30. He became a deacon at Southern Heights Baptist Church in Enid. Within 3 weeks, he received his license to preach by Southern Heights Baptist Church as well. While working at Gold Spot, he started preaching at a little mission outside of Perry, Oklahoma. In his time he pastored at the following churches: First Baptist Church in Nickerson, Kansas, Hopewell Baptist Church in Cowgill, Missouri, Kaseyville Baptist Church in Calao, Missouri, Nash First Baptist Church in Nash, Oklahoma, First Baptist Church in Cement, Oklahoma, and the First Baptist Church in Gotebo, Oklahoma. He was an interim pastor at the following churches: Indian Capital Baptist Church in Anadarko, Oklahoma, Virginia Avenue Baptist Church in Anadarko, Oklahoma, First Baptist Church in Cement, Oklahoma, and First Baptist Church in Gotebo, Oklahoma. While living in Cement, he owned G&G Vending and serviced machines throughout Chickasha. After retiring as pastor at Gotebo, he and his wife moved to Anadarko, Oklahoma. While in Anadarko, he owned a newspaper agency for the Daily Oklahoman, he also owned Family Furniture in downtown Anadarko. After leaving Anadarko, they spent winters in south Texas and summers at Fort Cobb State Park, where he was a camp host for many years. In 2003, they moved to Hobart, Oklahoma. Janette preceded O.A. in death on November 27, 2003.

O.A. is survived by his two daughters:
Terri Mizel and husband Bill of North Richland Hills, Texas,
Laura Jones and husband Danny of Hobart, Oklahoma,
grandchildren: Dr. Chad Douglas of Edmond, Oklahoma,
Danielle Riley of McLoud, Oklahoma,
great-grandchildren: Preston Black, Hunter Black, Hayden Black, Luke Douglas, Hannah Douglas, Hailey Riley, and Hudson Riley.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and sisters, his wife Janette, son Danny Wayne, and granddaughter Laura April.
