Ola Jean Stockton, 76, of Anadarko, was born December 25, 1937, in Gracemont to Thomas Major and Ethel Mae (Lawson) Hooten. She passed from this life Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Physicians Hospital in Anadarko.
Ola Jean grew up in Gracemont and attended Gracemont Public Schools. On August 22, 1955, she married Dale Stockton, at the home of his parents, Olen and Bertha Stockton, in a ceremony performed by his grandpa, Joe Stockton. From this union a daughter, Pamela Jean and a son, Richard Dale were born.
She was a homemaker and went to work after her children were older. She worked alongside her husband at Wag-A-Bag for seven years. In 1978, they opened the Step-N-Fetchum convenience store where she worked until her health no longer permitted.
Ola Jean loved her family and will be greatly missed. She loved her dog Sam and working outside in her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed mowing the lawn on her riding mower. Ola Jean also enjoyed doing arts and crafts, painting, interior decorating and she loved to go mushroom hunting in the spring and share with those who could no longer hunt them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Sonny Hooten and J.R. Hooten; one sister, Peggy White; one great granddaughter, Faith Jean Mahseet; and one granddaughter-in-law, Tina Topaum Spence.
Survivors include, her husband, Dale; one daughter, Pam Spence and husband Butch; one son, Rick Stockton; five grandchildren, Chris Spence, Josh Spence and wife Abbie, Jenny Sage, Jana Fragua and husband Pierce and Carey Spence; 11 great grandchildren and one on the way, all of Anadarko; two sisters, June DuBois of Stockton, California and Tommie Ruth Larson of Bueller, Kansas; brother-in-law Olen Stockton of Anadarko; and host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be held at 10 A.M., Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Grace Christian Fellowship in Anadarko. Burial will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Steverson Funeral Home. Condolences may be left for the family at www.steversonfuneralhome.com .
