Nadine Vandever was born in February 26, 1917 to John Floyd and Dixie Taylor Curtright on her Uncle John and Aunt Mae's Farm near Apache, Oklahoma. She was the first of five children followed by, Kathryn, LaRue, John and Shirlie. Nadine wanted to be a teacher and attended school at Cameron College in Lawton to Southwestern in Weatherford. She taught at Prairie Vale for two years rooming with the Jack Roderick family. She treasured lifelong friendships with the Roderick and Petty families. Nadine met Joe Vandever, a farmer from Mountain View and they married in 1939. They made their home north of Mountain View where they raised their two daughters, Jolene and Lana Kay and equally loved a granddaughter, Ginger Huddleston. Nadine was a longtime faithful member of The First Christian Church in Mountain View. After moving to Weatherford, she attended the Methodist Church along with two friends. The minister jokingly called them ' The Three Musketeers". She and Joe enjoyed traveling after retirement. They made numerous trips to Europe, Hawaii and the Caribbean with friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, Her parents, and three siblings, Kathryn Brown, LaRue Mobbs and John Curtright. She is survived by her two daughters, Jolene and Cecil Huddleston, Lana Kay Vandever and Ed Fagin and one precious granddaughter Ginger and Mac Blankenship, one sister Shirlie and Ed Dykes. Nadine survived all of her good friends in her age group except for Kate Fobes. They kept up their friendship through these last years by celebrating holidays and birthdays together. Nadine spent the last eleven years at Weatherford Assisted Living in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She passed from this life at the Weatherford Hospital on Saturday, June 20, 2015.
She was indeed blessed with a long and good life and she was a blessing to all of her family and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 24th at 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain View Cemetery.
Officiating will be the Rev. Kristi Smith.
Services are under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home in Mountain View.
