She and Fred were avid gardeners and canned each summer out of the bounty of their garden and orchard. In 1965, she took her younger sister Mona in and she stayed until her marriage in 1966. Nora later took in her youngest sister Anita at the age of 12 and raised her until she was 18. Nora also took in niece Stephanie when her family moved to Alabama for work. Stephanie lived with Nora until she married a year and 4 months later. Nora was a true grandmother to her nieces and nephews and treated them like her grandchildren. Nora loved her family deeply and was always ready to help them in time of need. Nora was no stranger to death and heartache. Nora and Marvin enjoyed traveling, going to Colorado and New Mexico many times, where they would stay for 2-3 weeks at a time, until their health kept them from going. Nora enjoyed quilting, helping others with their quilting, embroidery, and crocheting, making many gifts for her families and friends. She was an avid reader and studied about vitamins and herbs that would help keep her and Marvin healthy. Nora was always concerned about good health and eating right and daily walks.
