Nellie Ramona Mills, 83, formerly of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, was born March 18, 1930, in Aguilar, Colorado, to Barney and Nellie (Blinco) Benham. She passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Tuttle Care Center in Tuttle, Oklahoma.
Nellie grew up in Hinton, Oklahoma. She attended Hinton Public schools and graduated from Hinton High School. In 1949 she married Hoyit Eugene “Gene†Mills. They moved to Fort Cobb, Oklahoma in 1951, where they made their home for over 60 years. The Mills raised Simmental cattle and peanuts on their farm until retiring in 1986. Gene and Nellie ran the Boathouse on Fort Cobb Lake in 1967 and 1968. They also owned and operated a snow cone stand in Anadarko for 13 years.
Mrs. Mills enjoyed playing music and could play almost any instrument by ear. She also loved folkart.
Preceding her death were her parents, husband, Gene; two sons, Rodney and Ricky, one sister Eva Joan Martin and one grandchild, Tyson Mills.
Survivors include two sons, Randy Mills and wife, Alice of Tuttle and Rodger Mills and wife, Joann of Seminole, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren, Tammy Murphy, Tim Mills, Terenda Lester, Tonya Wheeler, Randy Wheeler, Toni Oglesby, Heath Ishman and Derick Ishman; 17 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, David Benham and wife, Sarah of Amarillo, Texas and Jim Benham and wife, Mary of El Reno, Oklahoma.
