Nell Jane Watson was born to the late Charles and Zona Watson, November 9, 1929, near Anadarko, Oklahoma. She passed from this life on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the Noble Nursing Center.
Nell married the late Fred Springer and they lived together in Anadarko before relocating to Arbor House Assisted Living in Norman, Oklahoma in 2010. In 1940, Fred and Nell (sometimes called “The Bug Ladyâ€) started Springer Pest Control. She continued to operate the business for twenty six more years after Fred's passing in 1974, retiring in 1999. Nell was a very active member and president of the V.F.W. for many years. During this time, she also pursued her next career as a real estate agent. In addition to her pest control business and her real estate sales, Nell also volunteered at the hospital until she moved to Norman. Nell was a member and board member of the Anadarko First Church of the Nazarene. She also found time to bowl and won many awards with her team at the Caddo Bowl. Nell and her dear friend, Pauline Moore, took up golf and spent many days chasing the ball around the Deitrich Memorial Golf and Country Club in Anadarko. She loved to travel and was able to see many countries around the world. Nell's greatest pastimes have been her great grandchildren and OU's Football team.
Preceding her in death were six siblings, Leonard Watson, Louis Watson, Bill Watson, Modena Caldwell, Janetta Moore and Ester Shearer.
Survivors include Three children, Linda Owen and her husband, Larry of Fort Meyers, Florida, Joann McCarthy of Oklahoma City and Joseph Fred, Jr. and his wife, Debbie of Norman; six grandchildren, Greg and Alecia Leathers of Cape Coral, Florida, Ryan and Taysha Springer of Goldsby, Oklahoma and Chris and Sacha Slaughter of Norman; great grandchildren, Rafaella Jimenez of Cape Coral, Florida, Kane and Ganon Springer of Goldsby and Stella Slaughter of Norman; sister-in-law, Myrtle Watson of Anadarko; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. Wednesday, 9 A.M. to 9 P.M. Thursday with the family receiving guests from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. and 9 A.M. to Noon Friday.
The funeral service will be at 2 P.M., Friday, May 2, 2014, at the Anadarko First Church of the Nazarene with former pastor, John Cahill officiating and Pastor Curtis Koscheski assisting. Burial will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at
