Nathel Hays Thompson Jr. a.k.a. J.R., 75, of Roosevelt, Oklahoma passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on September 20th, 2018. He battled Parkinson's disease for several years. He was born on January 25, 1943 to Nathel Hays and Jimmie Lena (Bolles) Thompson near Valley Mills, Texas.
J.R. grew up around Russell, Oklahoma just south of Mangum, he attended school at Centralvue graduating in 1962. After high school he worked for John Deere and then started his own mechanic business working on tractors. J.R. met the love of his life Arline Gifford and were married on May 6, 1968 in Altus, Oklahoma. They made their home in Frederick and then finally Roosevelt where they have lived since 1981. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Arline Thompson,
1 son, Shane Thompson and wife Micki of Cordell, Oklahoma,
1 daughter, Tina Thompson Lee of Roosevelt, Oklahoma,
9 grandchildren: Kerstin Williams and husband Kevin, Jordan Conley and husband Kevin, Chase Thompson, Cheyenne and Payton Bennett, Shelby and Jentry Rogers
2 great-grandchildren, Harper and Rhett Williams
3 brothers: Charlie Thompson, Mickey Thompson, and Robert Thompson,
3 sisters: Mary Uptmor, Dorthy O'pry, and Linda Thompson
longtime friends/coffee buddies: Larry Phillips and James Barnes.
and many brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Nathel and Jimmie Thompson, infant twin sons, brother Wilbert Thompson and sister Patsy Thompson.
