Nathan "Jumbo" William Tselee

August 14, 1943 — July 27, 2020

Nathan "Jumbo" William Tselee, 76 of Anadarko, Oklahoma went to be with his Creator on July 27, 2020 peacefully at his home. Born to Herbert and Clara (Blackbear) Redbone-Tselee on August, 14th 1943 in Anadarko, Oklahoma at the American Indian Exposition, Caddo County Fairgrounds. Weighing in at 15lbs at birth he was nicknamed by his uncles as "Jumbo" after Jumbo the elephant from the circus at the Indian Fair that year. Nathan attend school at Fort Cobb, Boone, and Lawton and later joined the United States Army National Guard before continuing his service in the United States Marine Corp from 1963 - 1967 where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He married his wife of 55 years, Mary Stevenson Tselee on January 5, 1965 at the Indian Capitol Baptist Church in Anadarko, Oklahoma.

Nathan was a proud member of the Apache Tribe of Oklahoma, where he served on the business committee for several years as the Chairman, Vice Chairman and committee member. He was a member and former headsman of the Apache Blackfeet Society and member of the Apache Native American Church. Jumbo was a long time supporter of the Anadarko Warriors, as he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports. He was a skilled carpenter and loved to work in his "man cave" making crafts such as cedar boxes while listening to Apache Blackfeet songs and hymns. Jumbo liked to golf, cook, make salsa and rooted for the Washington Redskins. He was blessed to be present for the birth of his little sister Zoey and then see her celebrate her first birthday this past June.

Nathan is preceded in death by his parents, Son: Mike Tieyah, GreatGrandson: Sebastian Rylan Jones. Brothers: Dennis Tselee, Leon Redbone, Jerry Redbone, Raymond "Skillet" Tselee. Sisters: Theodosia "Tweet" Wheeler, Wilma "Straw" Wells, and Judy Redbone Tselee.

He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Stevenson Tselee. Daughters: Andrea Tselee and companion Beth Wavrick of Oklahoma City, OK. Leslie Tselee, Kristen Tselee Miller and companion Clifton Wilson of Anadarko, OK. Granddaughters: Jenna Tselee Ware and husband Lehman of Dexter, NM, Whitlee Miller of Oklahoma City, OK and Christina Tieyah. Grandsons: Stephen Jones and companion D'Anndra Eckiwaudah, Kyle William Jones, and Byron Ware of Anadarko, OK and Michael Tieyah. Little sister (great granddaughter) Zoey Kaye Miller. Adopted daughter: Alicia "Bug" Watson. Adopted son, Jimmy Dale Beaver. Adopted granddaughter: Sheri "Idella" Thrash. Adopted grandsons: Dylan Parker Sr.; D'Ante Willhoite. Nephew James "Goatie" Nelson, whom he helped raise. Goddaughter Chloe Pierce and numerous other nieces and nephews.
