Ruth Duke, 82, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013 after a short illness, at her home in Hobart. She was born in the Koonkachazey Community on November 17, 1930, to Curtis and Ethel (Igo) Barton. Ruth graduated from Hobart High School in 1948 and has lived in Hobart most of her life. However, she spent one year in California and four years in Wichita, KS during the WWII years. Ruth and Bob Duke were married 56 years before he passed away. She was the owner of the Sears Catalog Store for 24 years and also worked with Ray and Martha Hackney at the funeral home for 12 years. She was an avid bridge player. Ruth was a member of the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons:
Mike Duke and David Duke, both of Hobart, OK
two daughters: Pat Davis and husband Ray and Mollie Pierce and husband John, both of San Antonio, Tx
seven grandchildren: Becca Aldava, Perry Duke, Jennifer Marks, Alison Wheat, Bess McCollom,
Jean Duke and Hannah McCollom
four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death her parents, husband Bob, infant grandson, Barton McCollom and two daughters, Teresa McCollom and Kelly Duke.
