Mona Berndsen

July 14, 1932 — January 3, 2018

Mona Jean Berndsen went to her final resting place on January 3, 2018. Mona Jean was born near Washita on July 14, 1932 to Howard and Alene Holdge. She attended Washita schools and graduated from Washita in 1951.

Mona Jean is survived by one daughter, Paula Turney and husband Marvin of Richardson, TX; two sons, Roy Berndsen of Fort Cobb, and Robert Berndsen and wife Kathy of Marlow, OK. Mona Jean also leaves behind grandchildren, Jon Turney and wife Jamie of Honolulu, HI, Rachel Turney of Honolulu, HI, Angie Davis and husband Brad of Fort Cobb, Devon Berndsen and wife Courtney of Fort Cobb, Terri Breeden and husband Rocky of Moore, Jessica Fried and husband David of Oklahoma City, and Leo Berndsen of Chickasha. Mona Jean's great grandchildren include Isabella and Amber Turney, Erica Smith, Talon Davis, Daxton and Kimber Berndsen, Ryleigh, Kaelyn, and Blacyn Berndsen; her great-great granddaughter, Breckly Smith. Mona Jean also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mona Jean and Paul lived their entire lives in Fort Cobb. She was an active member of the Fort Cobb Baptist Church, worked over 20 years at Hollytex Carpet Mill, and supported her husband and family in their farming/ranching business.

Mona Jean was preceded in death by her husband Paul Berndsen, her parents Howard and Alene Holdge, and one daughter Pam Turner.

Mona Jean loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent many hours attending their sporting events and watching them play with the toys from the toy closet at her house. She was a wonderful cook and there are stories of her cakes, cookies, peanut brittle, and noodles and all the joy these goodies brought to her friends and family. Her laughter and joy for life will be missed by all who knew her.
