Miriam John-Thorlacius
Miriam was born, Sunday, October 5, 1947, in Talihina, Oklahoma, to the late Robert McDaniel and Catherine (Thomas) McDaniel and passed from this life on Saturday, January 27, 2018 in Hobart, Oklahoma at the age of 70.
Miriam worked as a certified nurse assistant for many years. She worked in Cordell, Carnegie, and Hobart the last few years before her retirement. She also worked for Broce Construction as a flagman for a few summers as she worked on her "tan".
Miriam's hobbies included playing computer and word search games, Yahtzee, reading books. She loved watching the Oklahoma City Thunder, all judge shows, especially Judge Judy and her soap operas. She enjoyed the outdoors, porch sitting and going to garage sales to find a good bargain.
She was a loved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will greatly missed by her family.
Miriam was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Joshua John and a brother Daniel McDaniel.
She is survived by her husband, Don of Hobart, OK; children Stephanie DeSandra and husband Dan of Wylie, TX, Raymond John and wife Cynthia of Roebuck, SC, Jimmy John of Hobart, OK, Chad John and wife Vickie of Sherman, TX, and Bobby John of Elk City, OK, Step-children, Sherry Burris and husband Richard, of Hobart, OK, Karla McKinney and James Thorlacius of Washington.
Grandchildren, Erica Walker and husband Rick, Ashley John, Michelle Graumann and husband Brody, Geno Acuna, Tamara Hill and husband Christian, McKayla Stevenson, Josh John, Malcolm John, Jessica Polk, Emalee Robinson and husband Brett, Chay John, Justin John, Katie John, Heidi John, Anna Jordan and husband Devin, Josh John, and Caleb John and wife Elsye. Step-grandchildren, Candice, Charles, Jennifer, Chantel, Jeremy, Dustin, Aaron and Charolett. 15 Great grandchildren and 2 on the way, and several nieces and nephews.
Also survived by siblings, Sylvia McDaniel, Della Gibson and husband Clifford and Gideon McDaniel all of Durant, OK.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 1, from 6-8pm at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Friday, February 2, in the chapel at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home with Raymond John officiating. Interment will follow at Hobart Rose Cemetery with Geno Acuna, Rick Walker, Josh John, Malcolm John, Chay John, Josh John and Justin John serving as pallbearers.
Services are under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home in Hobart, OK.
