OBITUARY
Mildred (Knapp) "Millie" Latham, 83 years and 20 days old, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Sunday, March 27, 2016 in Anadarko, Caddo County, Oklahoma following a short illness. Charlotte Mildred Knapp was born March 7, 1933 at home in Union Springs, Cayuga County, New York. She was the eighth of fifteen children born to Nancy May (Ammerman) and William Nelson "Bill" Knapp.

Millie received her elementary and high school education in Union Springs, New York. She left high school early, then in March of 1987, at 54 years of age, Millie completed her Certificate of High School Education from the Department of Education in the State of Oklahoma.

As a young woman, Millie's life adventures included hitchhiking from New York to Los Angeles, California via Nevada. Millie went to work as a waitress in a spaghetti factory located in downtown Los Angeles. While in California, she also lived in Eagle Mountain, Blythe and Salinas. She came to Oklahoma in the 1980's making her home in Geary where she managed a motel. In her late 50's, Millie suffered a massive stroke. With great determination, Millie learned new skills to manage daily tasks and maintained her ability to live independently. Millie loved to fish and loved to laugh. She was a voracious reader of mystery books; her favorite authors being Agatha Christi and James Patterson.

Millie is the mother of two daughters, Anita (Knapp) Taboh of New York and Ginny (Knapp-Goddard) East of Anadarko, Oklahoma.

She is survived by her daughter Anita; one brother, Jim Knapp of New York; three sisters, Hazel Borza, Betty Swartz, and Julia Helinski, all of New York; six grandchildren, Tamara Bryson, Kevin DeVaughan, Shanna (Morris) Prince, Amanda (East) Papke, Christopher Morris, and Ricky (Jr.) East; fifteen great-grandchildren; and long-time special friends, Mary Allen, Mildred Weber and Connie Ahdunko.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; brothers, David, Bill, Joey, George, Ike, Frederick, and Johnny; sisters, May Smith, Aletha Woodworth, and Nancy Lovell; and daughter Ginny East.

Mildred Latham will be buried in a closed casket, private ceremony at Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home.
