Micah Sarah McAdams, 41, of Anadarko, was born January 30, 1974, to Gar Lynn and Adrina Sue (Standing) McAdams in Lawton. She passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015, in Anadarko.
Micah was raised in Gracemont and graduated from Gracemont High School excelling in academics and sports and was valedictorian of the Class of 1992. She was honored by Duke University's Talent Identification Program (TIP) for mathematically and verbally brilliant students. Micah was also selected for All-Conference in basketball where she played guard.
She loved sports and was an avid OU and OKC Thunder fan. Micah enjoyed beadworking, playing pool, cooking, spending time with her friends and listening to music. She was a member of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes and took part in the Wichita/Pawnee Visitation (one of the oldest ceremonies the Wichita people have). Micah loved playing Handgames; it was something close to her heart. Spending time with her nieces and nephews we3re always enjoyable where they played games, sang silly song and read. Micah loved to laugh and tease.
Preceding her in death were her mother, Ardina McAdams; three uncles, Leslie McAdams, Ronnie Birch and McKinley "Sonny" Standing; two aunts, Josephine Parker and Ramona Ahdunko; grandmothers, Nettie Standing and Elva McAdams; grandfathers, Lewie McAdams and Phillip Standing.
Survivors include her father, Gary McAdams of Anadarko; two sisters, Kelly McAdams and her fiancé, Chris Webster of Oklahoma City and Cassandra McAdams of Anadarko; five nieces, Makennah R. McAdams, Charlie D. McAdams, Lindy Chalepah and Adrian Nawa Spottedhorsechief; best friend, Addison "Addie" Chalepah; one nephew, Kody Chalepah; two aunts, LaVerna Capes of Anadarko and Donna Steinberg of Gracemont; two uncles, Mike Standing and his wife, Joyce of Guthrie, Alfred Standing and his wife Marge of Mesquite, Texas and J.D "Creek" McAdams and his wife, Darlene of Gracemont; long-time childhood friends and family, Diana Standing, Nikki Owings-Crumm, Terri Parton, Susan Kingsley-Churchman and Cheryl Frank as well as numerous cousins, extended family and aquaintances.
Micah's infectious laugh and smile will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A Prayer service will begin at 7 P.M., Sunday, July 12, 2015, at the Wichita Tribe Community Building. The funeral will be at 11 A.M., Monday, July 13, 2015, also at the Wichita Tribe Community Building. Burial will follow in the Rock Spring Cemetery under the direction of the Steverson Funeral Home.
