Michael Lamont (Ranger) Scallion, 41, of Hobart, passed away on May 5, 2016 in Oklahoma City.
He was born on March 31, 1975 in Hobart to Miss Marlene Scallion and Robin Tubbs of Ponca City, OK.
Michael attended public school in Hobart and graduated from Hobart High School in 1994. He attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Southwestern Oklahoma State University and the University of Central Oklahoma.
Michael was Oklahoma Coaches Association all-state in football in 1993 after leading his beloved Bearcats in tackles as a defensive lineman. He was also the All-Area Class 2A-3A defensive player-of-the-year.
Michael finished third as heavyweight at the state wrestling tournament as a sophomore, was state runner-up as a junior and was state champion, all-state and an Adidas High School All-American as a senior.
He still holds the Hobart track and field record in the shot put.
Michael was employed at Wal-Mart Distribution in Douglas, GA for six years until he moved back to Hobart. Michael also worked several years with his best friend, Tommy Talley.
Michael leaves to cherish his mother, Miss Marlene Scallion of Hobart; sister Tenzie Morris of Douglas, GA; two brothers, Kareem Morris of Hobart and Madrid and Tabitha Scallion of Hollis; nieces Kayvia, Talisha, Tenzie, Lindsay, Sierra, Zion, Zachaeus and Lacy Paige Talley; nephews Kareem, TyQuez, Treyveon, Daeson, Quentel, and Ty Thomas Talley; two aunts, Margaret Davis and Claudetta Scallion of Hobart; two uncles, Victor Scallion of Hobart and Henry Scallion of Lawton and a host of cousins.
Also, best friends Tommy and Lori Talley, Ryan Alexander, John Madden, Jeremy Moore and the Class of 1994.
Funeral services for Michael will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016 at The Church of Christ in Hobart.
Brother Vernon Traylor will be officiating. Interment will follow at Hobart Rose Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home in Hobart.
