Michael Doyne Bilyeu, 64, of Anadarko, was born February 8, 1949, to Ralph Mart and Lavonta Verline (Robertson) Bilyeu in Anadarko. He passed from this life on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at his home.
Michael started school in a size 3 three jeans and attended Anadarko and Clement public schools. In his teen years he worked at the Pow-Wow Drive-in and was a member of the FFA. He and his cousins had a picture made in a gunny sack dress with a necklace made of onions. He was fun filled, loved getting his brothers in trouble and picking on his sisters. He went in the army in 1966 he served an extended tour in Korea and later in Vietnam. He never allowed his friends to be mistreated and was always getting into mischief. He made friends quickly and never forgot a friend once made. He met Darlene in March of 1970 while stationed in Colorado and two weeks later “married his lifelong sweetheart from the time he met her†in Colorado Springs. They were married for 43 years. He got the children he wanted when he wanted them. Darrell in November of 1970, Michelle in February of 1972, Kristina in July of 1975 and Marcus in November 1978. While he lived in Colorado he was a superintendent for McNally Construction before owning his own maintenance company “Mike's Home Repair†that he was very proud of.
Mike, to most who knew him, was first and foremost a family man. There were many things that he loved in life, the most of which was dancing with his wife. He was a fan of gardening, as long as that gardening involved okra. After his retirement, he took an particular interest in his beloved ‘57 Chevy. He also loved working on his ‘60 Apache pickup. Mike loved to sing and write poetry for the people that he loved. He made the best biscuits and gravy. If his TV was on, he was watching westerns. And, if you were in his home, so were you unless his beloved Denver Broncos were playing. He loved to laugh and was an eternal jokester. Like the nicknames for his grandchildren, New Year's jokes (Have you had a bath all year?) or waking up all the children with a bellowing ‘Woo YallaGall' (a saying he picked up from his grandfather). He added a burst of laughter and joy to every situation. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, son and papa and he will be missed dearly!
Preceding him in death were his father, Mart Bilyeu and one brother Dennis Bilyeu.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene of the home; mother, Bonny Bilyeu of Anadarko; four children, Darrell Bilyeu of Anadarko, Michelle Wooden and her husband, Tony, Kristina Bilyeu all of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Marcus Bilyeu and his wife, Shannan of Anadarko; nine grandchildren, Darlene, Keanu, Darrell, Adela, Marrissa, Quentin, Anthony, Jordan, and Brianna; brother, Alton Bilyeu of Ardmore; three sisters, Verlinda Bilyeu, Jan Bean and her husband, Kevin and Nita Williams; sister-in-law, Carolyn Bilyeu all of Anadarko; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
