Melvin Jack Mclerran Jr., born April 4, 1926 departed this earth on November 29th, 2017. Jack was the son of Melvin and Ruby Mclerran. He was proceeded in death by his parents, four brothers and sisters and his wife, Oleta Chloe Mclerran.
He is survived by his eldest son , Gary and wife Sue, of Mesa, Arizona, Grandson Jon, his wife, Ritsa, and Great-Granddaughter Zoe. He is also survived by his son Randall and his wife Pam of Ocala, Florida and their children Brady and David Slaymaker and Great- Grandson Audrick. Jack was a farmer and lifetime resident of Washita County and proudly served his country in World War II. He entered the United States Army in 1944 and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded two Bronze Medals for his gallantry in actions behind enemy lines. He also served during the occupation of Germany. Jack was a loving father, husband and grandparent. It is difficult to put into words what a humble and loving man he was. When called to serve his country as a citizen soldier, he answered the call of duty with bravery and honor. He asked for little of, but gave much to his family and country. The world is a better place because of the path he walked.
He will be Laid to rest at the Carter Cemetery, Carter, Oklahoma, with his family.
