Melton Wayne Gibson

December 1, 1935 — March 27, 2013

Melton Wayne Gibson, 77, former Carnegie resident, went to be with his Lord
and Savior on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Norman Regional Hospital. Wayne
was born on December 1, 1935, in Altus, OK, to Harvey and Melba Maxey
Gibson, moving to Carnegie at the age of 1. He graduated from Carnegie High
School in 1953 and later attended the Draughon School of Business in
Oklahoma City, majoring in Business Administration and Accounting. Wayne
was united in marriage on June 18, 1955, to his high school sweetheart,
Wanda Jarnagin. They made their home in Carnegie until the fall of 1999, at
which time they moved to Lawton. While in Carnegie, Wayne worked in the
family business, the Gibson Implement Company, for several years. In 1969,
he went to work for the Farmers Bank. During that time, he became manager
of the Johnson Insurance Agency at the bank, working in that capacity for
two years. In 1979, Wayne became the owner of Gibson Implement Company,
serving the farming community until 1990. In 1991, he returned to the
Farmers Bank where he worked as Assistant Vice-President until his
retirement in December of 2010. Wayne moved to Norman in the spring of
2011, where he resided at Rivermont Retirement Center. Over the years, Wayne enjoyed many outdoor activities such as boating and waterskiing, but especially taking pride in teaching others to water ski. He enjoyed snow skiing, as well. Wayne was also an avid hunter and fisherman, but the catch of his life was his wife, Wanda, of over 55 years. Their years were full of the blessings of family, community, church, and
their shared love of traveling.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Leisa Peetoom and husband David, Norman, OK Sheila Shaw and husband, Rodney, Watonga, OK 4 grandchildren: Sommer Buss and husband, Neil, Moore, OK Sherise Oxsen and husband, Adam, Oklahoma City, OK Kurtis Shaw and wife, Kelsey, Bloomfield, NM Kendra Shaw, Watonga, OK 2 step-grandchildren: Cara Shaw, Bethany, OK Bret Shaw and wife, Courtney, Urbandale, IA 5 great-grandchildren: Oliver Buss, Moore, OK Arthur Buss, Moore, OK Elijah Oxsen, Oklahoma City, OK Beckett Shaw, Urbandale, IA Amelie Oxsen, Oklahoma City, OK, arriving soon 1 brother-in-law, Tommy Charles and wife, Laura, Mesa, AZ 1 sister-in-law, Bobbie Gibson and husband, Hoot, Oklahoma City, OK 4 nieces: Debbie Johnson and husband, Larry, Carnegie, OK Marcy Allen and husband, Jeff, Hobart, OK Toni Roland and husband, David, Carnegie, OK Lee Ann Perez and husband, Roland, Ridge Springs, SC 1 nephew, Terry Gibson and wife, Jean, Lawton, OK.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Marcelene Charles, and
brother, Harvey "Skeet" Gibson.
Funeral Service: 10:00a.m., Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, Carnegie, OK
Burial will follow at the Carnegie Cemetery, Carnegie
under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Carnegie
