Melissa "Missy" Dawn Poolaw-Swift, 28, of Anadarko, Oklahoma, crossed the veil on November 2nd at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.She came into this world on February 10, 1987. Melissa was the beloved daughter of Diana Woodard and Gerald Poolaw Jr. A direct descendent of Chief Santanta (set'tainte) through daughter San-tope-ay-doh and White Buffalo. She is also a decendent of Chief Blackhorse (Tv-uh-Ku-mah) who was the second chief of the Qvahadi Band.
Melissa loved to celebrate life and was the life of any party or family get-together. She was a very kind and loving woman who always tried to help others when she could. Melissa was very close to her family and loved them dearly. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. Melissa was also a member of the Kiowa Tribe and was very proud of her culture. She was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She is survived by two sons, Ryan "Wittle" Jon Swift Jr., and Keenai George Oliver White

father, Gerald Wayne Poolaw Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,
five siblings, Marcia Poolaw and her children, of Waurika, Oklahoma,
Justina Poolaw and her five children of Anadarko,Oklahoma,
Rebecca Poolaw and fiance, Chris Virgil, and their three children of Anadarko,Oklahoma,
Jolanda Segotta and fiance, Trevor Cole, and their two children of Hartshorne, Oklahoma,
Daniel Circle of Anadarko, Oklahoma.
one foster sister, Kristina Coffenberry and her two children of Cyril, Oklahoma,
mother-in-law, Lois Swift of Norman, Oklahoma,
and sister-in-law, Daisy Mae Swift of Norman, Oklahoma,
maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Marie Blackhorse Woodard,
and paternal grandmother, Linda Poolaw.
She is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ryan Jon Swift Sr., maternal grandfather, Marcus Oliver Woodard Jr., paternal grandfather, Gerald Wayne Poolaw Sr., her great-grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Wake services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 5th, 2015, at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 6th, 2015, at Cedar Creek United Methodist Church, Carnegie, Oklahoma. President Sylvester of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will be officiating the services. Internment will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery.
Services will be under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home.
