Melinda Halsted

Melinda Halsted, 62, of Hydro, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in her home on April 6, 2023, with her family by her side. She fought a long battle with Ovarian cancer.
Melinda Carol Kirby was born February 20, 1961 to Kenneth Kirby and the late Maelena Saar Kirby, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Mindy's early childhood years were full of horse riding and water skiing at Lake Eufaula. Melinda graduated from Harrah High School in 1979 and had recently had such a great time at her High School Reunion seeing old friends. Mindy homeschooled her children, gardened, owned a hair salon in her home town for many years, worked in the oil field as an inspector and later worked from home as a executive admin for an oilfield company. Known for her attention to detail and promptness, she took great pride in her work.
Melinda was married to Stephen Halsted on April 19, 1991; they shared nearly 32 years together. Along the way, they raised five children. Melinda was happiest teaching and encouraging her children in their various pursuits. She spent countless hours with several of her children homeschooling and was so very proud of all of their accomplishments.
Melinda was a devoted woman of God. She enjoyed her family and friends and truly enjoyed cheering them on and encouraging them in their endeavors.
She was preceded in death by her Mother, Maelena Cummings, Step Dad Luther Cummings, Father in Law, Lloyd Halsted and Mother in Law, Wilene Halsted.
Survivors include her Husband, Stephen Halsted and their five children, Kirby Halsted, Matthew Halsted and wife Tosha, Leslie Rios, Lindsay Vonier and husband Chris, Noelle Moore and husband Johnathan; nine grandchildren, Isaac, Gracie, Hannah and Simon Halsted, Weston and Evelyn Rios, McCoy, Marshall and John Parker Moore.
She is also survived by her father, Kenneth Kirby and wife Erma, her closest friend and sister, who never left her side and cared for her until the very end, Cindy Watson and partner Jerry, nephews Dustin Watson and Brady Watson, Sherry Sweeney and husband Charles, Laurie Haigh, Tamara Byers and husband Johnny, Lauren Rosenfelt and husband Jessie and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Oakdale Missionary Baptist Church, 8049 State HWY 152, Lookeba, Ok, 73053, with Pastor Jeremy Cain, officiating.
Under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home, Carnegie.
