Maxine Harrison

November 20, 1953 — November 30, 2024

Maxine Lucille Harrison of Carnegie, OK, former resident of Hobart, died peacefully at her home with her family by her side after a hard fought battle with a long illness.

Maxine was born to Max W. and Louise (Meaders) Courtney of Carnegie, Ok on November 20, 1953. Maxine was the oldest of two girls, her sister, Phoebe being the youngest. She was the valedictorian of the 1972 class of Carnegie High School. An accomplishment that she was proud of.

After high school, Maxine moved to Hobart, OK where she began working. She babysat and groomed dogs until she started at the radio station, KTJS, where she worked for 17 years. She shared many memories of her time at the radio station and looked upon her time there fondly. In June of 1990, she started her banking career at Homestate Bank where she remained through multiple transitions before retiring at the age of 65. There she made many long term friendships at the bank that she cherished deeply.

Maxine married the love of her life, Ted Harrison, on December 7, 1979. After a few years of being newlyweds, they welcomed their son, John Max, on March 1, 1982. Other than being busy with Max's various activities in his youth, Maxine had many interests and hobbies. She liked to cross-stitch, read, and travel, the beach being one of her most favorite places to be. She was able to visit Hawaii twice and Florida once.. If she could've sat on every beach in the world, she would have. Feeling the sand between her toes and watching the waves roll in and out made her soul sing. Another of her favorite trips were her girl trips to Dallas where she relaxed at the spa, spent time shopping, and shared many laughs with her closest friends.

Speaking of friendships, Maxine was proud to be part of the Xi Epsilon Tau Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi organization where she was crowned queen in February of 2000. She affectionately referred to her fellow club members as "her girls" and many close friendships were made during her membership. She always looked forward to their gatherings and was so thankful for their times together.

During her retirement, Maxine was able to spend much cherished time with Ted on the family farm. She enjoyed watching the birds, various wildlife, and took many pictures of the beautiful wildflowers that bloomed every year. Taking drives around the countryside with Ted was one of her favorite ways to spend a slow day. She was able to spend some time traveling with Ted, kept up with the activities of her four grandchildren, and spoiled her beloved cat, Missy. Anyone who knew Maxine, knew that she had a feisty, strong-willed spirit with one of her catch phrases being, "I'm fine." If you know, you know.
