Maurine D. Freeman

January 10, 1924 — September 12, 2019

Dessie Maurine Hopkins Freeman, 95, of the Hobart and Sentinel area, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019. She was born on January 10, 1924 in Port, Oklahoma to Bunnie and Dessie (McKillip) Hopkins. She married Ralph Baker Freeman on July 21, 1946 in Sentinel, Oklahoma, and they were happily married for almost 70 years when Ralph preceded her in death on June 1, 2016. Maurine was a talented seamstress and a fantastic cook. She made numerous wedding cakes for others. Maurine built her life around her family and friends, whom she loved dearly.

Maurine is survived by her four children:
Dolores Maurine & husband Jerry Holt,
Charles Ralph Freeman & wife Betty,
Judith Ann & husband Michael Krieger, all of Hobart
Treva Jo & husband Jim Graham, of Sayre,

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren:
Charles Ralph Freeman and Gregory Linn Holt of Hobart, Joe Max Freeman of Blair, Valerie Lynn Freeman Roberts of Altus, Weston Lee Graham of Carter, Cade Joshua Graham of Sayre, Melody Layne Freeman Hunt of Grandfield, Joy Elizabeth Krieger Ambrose of Stillwater, Donna Jo Whinery Ferenczy of Ozark , Missouri, Lane Odell Krieger and Austin Michael Krieger of Norman, Leigh Katherine Krieger Williams of Oklahoma City, Barclay Joe Holt and Jonathan Marc Holt of Shattuck, and Andrea Jean Freeman Wilks of Dallas, Texas.

Maurine is survived by 40 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph Baker Freeman, great-grandsons: Charles Ralph Freeman III and Baby Boy Graham, the infant son of Treva & Jim Graham. Maurine was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charlie Freeman III Foundation for the Children's Feeding Center in Ngodzi, Malawi Africa, located at any branch of the Great Plains National Bank; Church of Christ Disaster Relief Fund, or charity of your choice.

The family will be present at the church to visit with friends and relatives from 1:00 p.m. up until service time.
