Matthew "Billy" Junior Cazares, 84, of Alexandria, Louisiana passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on August 4, 2018. He was born on April 23, 1934 to Matthew and Elizabeth (Aquoyote) Cazares in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Bill grew up 1 1/2 miles west of Carnegie. He lost his mother when he was just 3 1/2 years old, he then lived with his aunt Ethyl Aquoyote and at times he would stay with his cousin Clouse and wife Alice Ahtone. Billy attended school at Riverside Indian School, and after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He married the love of his life Margie and they have been married for fifty-four wonderful years. He was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1955 to 1977 attaining the rank of Master Sergeant, while serving his country he flew over one hundred and one combat missions and logged over eighty-six hundred flight hours. Junior also did in-flight refueling and was a helicopter flight instructor. After retirement, he went to work as a safety inspector with the Army Corp of Engineers. Junior enjoyed sports during his leisure time, but most of all he loved his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
