Mary Elizabeth Shaw died August 29th, 2020, in Hobart, Oklahoma. She was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on March 8th, 1939, to Ralph and Dorothy (Pfenning) Patchin. Mary attended Hobart schools and graduated from Hobart High School on May 23, 1957. On that day her only sibling, Tom, was born. What a day!
Mary attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated in 1961 with a degree in special education. She met her future husband, Bob, at OU and they married in 1961 on campus where they met. The couple had two sons, Robert Mark and Thomas Russell. The family lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, New Jersey, Las Vegas, Sacramento and Delmar, NY, a suburb of Albany.
Mary worked as office manager of the Stanley Kaplan Educational Center in Albany. While in New York, she was a member of the Delmar craft Club, the New York State Embroiderers Guild and the Delmar Progress Club. She enjoyed making cloth character dolls representing people in her life. Another hobby was counted cross stitch embroidery.
Mary, Bob and the boys did a lot of camping when they lived in California and New York. After each move they made a point of finding a new church home. After Bob retired in 2000 they moved back to Oklahoma and made their home in Hobart. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents.
