Mary Virginia Reed

Mary Virginia Wetselline-Reed our matriarch has taken the journey. She was born August 1, 1940, in Lawton, OK to Zola Wetselline and left this earth September 12, 2023 at the age of 83 years in Las Vegas NV. Mary was the last surviving member of her family.
Mary was raised in the Stecker, OK area and attended Apache and Anadarko Schools. She received a GED from TCU-Adult Education programs in 1967in Fort Worth, TX. She was proud of that fact and pushed her kids to excel in school. She attended Lee's school of Cosmetology in Chickasha, OK and gained her Oklahoma Cosmetology license in 1972 which she held for 35 years until retirement. She worked with hairdressers in the Anadarko area for several years before opening her own beauty shop called "Unique Hair Design" which she owned and operated from 1982-1989.
Mary was a Christian and was baptized and received her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Redstone Baptist Church, as a youth, in Anadarko, OK. She was a very knowledgeable sports fan, football, basketball and especially women's and men's tennis. She watched all the major tennis tournaments and knew all the players as her children. We could not have asked for or been given a more wonderful mother. We were blessed to have her in our lives. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her: Maternal grandparents, Mary Ahtone and Henry Wetselline; mother, Zola Wetselline; brothers, Durell Cooper Jr., Jerry Cooper, Emmett McKenzie, Jim Joselyn, and Billy Slimp; sister, Violet Sue Wetselline; Husband, Marvin Reed, Sr.; Son, Marvin Reed Jr.; Two Grandchildren, Kara Hope Reed and Devin Torralba.
