Mary Louise Howard passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024 at the age of 95. It was a life well-lived making many acquaintances along the way.
Mary Louise Howard was born October 12, 1929 to William and Addie Smith in Jester, Oklahoma. Her family then moved to Hester in which she lived most of her life before moving to Mangum. She attended school at both Hester and Mangum, and graduated from Mangum High School in 1946.
She married A.O. Howard, Jr. in June of 1946. Together they had 3 daughters-Linda, Susan, and Cheryl. Louise had a lengthy career in the workforce for many years. She worked in a clothing store, and owned a flower shop and furniture store in Mangum. She then worked in a flower shop in Hobart for many years before returning to Mangum to work in an antique store. She concluded her career working in a furniture store in Mangum and Altus. Louise also had a seasonal job for many years for which she was well known for picking, shelling and selling black-eyed peas!
Louise was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was an avid sports fan of all sports, but was especially fond of OU football, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. She loved watching games and could discuss stats, scores, and players with the best of them, often surprising people with her vast knowledge of sports.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Aubrey, Verlous, Durward and Mildred, her husband, A.O. Howard, Jr., her granddaughter Julie Powell, her sons-in-law Arnold Van Noy, Rocky Hamilton and Glenn Reeves.
She is survived by her three daughters Linda Van Noy, Susan Hamilton and Cheryl Reeves; her grandchildren Mark Van Noy and wife Amy, April Secrest and husband Sean, Jason Van Noy and wife Lora, Renee Kendall and husband Corry and Grant Reeves; her great grandchildren Reagan Campbell, Katie Van Noy, Tyler Secrest, Colton Kendall and Grayson Kendall; and her great, great grandchildren Brynley Campbell and Barrett Campbell.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be sent to: the Glenn Reeves Scholarship fund at Mangum Public Schools 400 N. Pennsylvania Avenue Mangum, OK 73554
