Mary Lavon (Kelley) Holmes was born December 31, 1935 at the home of Charlie Trotter, 4 miles north, 1 mile east, and 1/2 mile north of Carnegie, Oklahoma. She was the first of six children born to Pete and Waunita Kelley and was valedictorian of her 9th grad class at Carnegie, graduating from high school in 1954. Mary was married to Mark Holmes on May 5, 1958 in Oklahoma City. Her husband was in the Air Force, so they lived many places, including Oklahoma, California, Alaska, Colorado, and Nebraska. She was witness to the massive Good Friday earthquake in Anchorage, Alaska, in 1964. Mary worked at insurance companies, banks, and was office manager for the Resource Development Council in Anchorage, which promoted Alaska's resources. In 1991, she returned to Carnegie to retire.
Mary is survived by two sons;

Bruce Holmes, Scottsdale, Arizona
Two granddaughters;
Meagan Burgess and her husband, Dan
Natasha Haines and her husband, Andrew
Four great grandchildren
Two sisters;

Janelle Kelley, Carnegie, OK
Two brothers;
Donald Kelley, Carnegie, OK
Doug Kelley and his wife, Dianne, Fort Worth, TX
Preceded in death by her: parents; sister, Gayle Hoffman, Clinton, OK; daughter-in-law, Lydia Holmes; former husband, Mark Holmes
