Martin Dwane Allen

February 15, 1941 — July 21, 2014

Martin D. Allen, 73, of Chickasha (formerly of Anadarko), was born February 15, 1941, in Chickasha to Troy and Nola Fayrene (Calliham) Allen. He passed from this life on Monday, July 21, 2014, in Oklahoma City.
Martin grew up between Anadarko and Gracemont on a turkey farm. He attended Camp Creek School through the eighth grade. Martin then went to Anadarko Public Schools for his freshman, sophomore and junior years where he played baseball and basketball. He was a graduate, however, of the “University of Gracemont, Oklahoma†with the Class of 1955. Martin was saved and baptized at the age of 15 at Bethel Baptist Church in Anadarko. He joined the National Guard when he was 17 years old. Martin worked on a road crew for Caddo County and on the farm until he married the love of his life, Mabel Lee Abbott, in March of 1961. They then moved to Amarillo, Texas where Martin furthered his schooling to become a paint contractor. They moved back to Anadarko and raised six children. He was employed by Maremont, Inc. in Chickasha for nine years after which, he resumed paint contracting until his retirement in 1994. Martin has lived in Chickasha since 2009.
Martin was raised loving the Lord and his family. His favorite pastimes were riding his horses, loving his animals and sporting around in his 1955 Ford Crown Victoria. Martin enjoyed being with his family and friends. He also enjoyed playing with his grandbabies and pets. He loved to dance, rodeos, horseraces, NASCAR and watching a lot of football. He really loved to laugh most of all and never met a stranger. He was really good at making up his own jokes and retelling them even if they weren't very funny (Ha-Ha). Martin will be missed by so many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mabel; one brother, Alton Allen; brother-in-law Gerald Hill and faithful pet, Sassy.
