Marjorie Queton Tahbone

June 23, 1927 — March 7, 2012

Marjorie Queton Tahbone, 82, of Mountain View, OK went home on March 7th, 2012. She was born June 23rd, 1927 to John and Ilene (Bointy) Queton. Marjorie was a member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma. She was the granddaughter of Queton and Peahmah and Jack Bointy, and Ah-hah-poie. She was the great- granddaughter of Red Tipi. She was raised seven miles east of Mountain View with her brothers and sisters. At the age of seven, Marjorie was baptized at Rainy Mountain Kiowa Indian Baptist Church. As a child she attended Samone school, and later Mountain View High School. She also attended Carnegie Junior College. Marjorie was united in Marriage to George "Dugan" Tahbone, December 31, 1947 by the Reverend Venable in Mountain View, OK. Marjorie and George had four sons, two of which died in infancy. Marjorie worked as a L.P.N. for twenty seven and a half years at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth, TX. Upon retiring from Harris Hospital, Marjorie and George moved to Mountain View where she worked in a local clinic. Marjorie was a devout Christian and was active in the Rainy Mountain Women's Group where she served as President for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Group for the Kiowa Blackleggings Society. She also assisted her husband in his position as Grandpa Rabbit for the Kiowa Tia-Piah Society. As "Grandma Rabbit", Marjorie enjoyed serving breakfast handing out treats, and watching all her little rabbits grow up. Marjorie loved both cooking and sewing. She, along with her husband sold baked goods and crafts at the Kiowa Tribe's Friday morning flea market. Marjorie often entered her crafts as the local fairs where she won first place prizes.

two sons, George Tahbone Jr. and wife, Pat
Carlton Tahbone and wife, Sandra
eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Amber, Amie, Sevon, Dana, Vanessa, Marjorie and Tohcyahdayma
two great grandchildren
two sisters, Roberta Strange and Julian Horton
her little sister, Autumn Skye and her little brother, Nathan
many nieces and nephews
three special friends, Christina Simmons, Peggy Tsoodle, and Delores Harragarra

She was preceded in death by parents, husband, George, brothers, Melvin, Spencer, Malcolm, Floyd and Virgil, her sisters, Hattie, Cecilia, Juanita and Ester, two infant sons, one granddaughter, Adele Tungewenuk Tahbone and one grandson, Michael John Tahbone.


Wake Service: 7:00p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2012
Funeral Service: 11:00a.m., Monday, March 12, 2012
Both services will be held at Rainy Mountain Kiowa Indian Baptist Church, Mountain View, OK
Burial will follow at Rainy Mountain Tribal Cemetery
under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Mountain View
