Marilyn Kay Carson was born in Levelland, Texas on May 12, 1954, to Jack Keith and Joy Elizabeth (Story) Powell. She passed away with her daughters by her side in her home on November 16, 2023.
She was raised in and went to school in Blair, Oklahoma. While growing up she loved basketball, playing with her brothers and cousins, barrel racing, and training the family's racehorses. She had a deep love for horses and often doted that she rode horses bareback most of the time.
She married David Marshall in December of 1970 and to this union one child was born Charl Kay Powers. She married Christopher Carson in August of 1991 and to this union one child was born Casie Ceira Funk.
In her early twenties she moved to Washington where she began her lifelong career of painting homes. She excelled in her career despite moving several times throughout her 4-decade long career. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and playing with her grandchildren. You could find her early Saturday morning looking for treasures at garage sales. She made friends wherever she went throughout her life. Her work ethic was unparalleled, even through severe pain she would continue to work, cook, and garden. She was always giving to others and helping those in her path.
