Maggie Mae Moore

February 29, 1916 — February 3, 2018

Maggie Mae Hurd was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on February 29th, 1916. She was the oldest of four children born to Charles Roy Hurd and Gladys Geneva Pierre.
After graduating from Okmulgee high school in 1934, she worked in the local Woolworth Department Store for a year and then entered nursing school at Okmulgee Hospital. When the school was closed, the students were transferred to St John's Nursing School in Tulsa where she continued her training and graduated in 1937.
After graduating she returned to Okmulgee to work in the Okmulgee Hospital and began work in public health less than a year later. Before being transferred to Carnegie she was the public health nurse in clinics in Oklahoma City, Norman, Atoka and Anadarko. She retired in 1979.
Maggie Mae was active in the United Methodist Church, she spent many years with her quilting club and enjoyed such hobbies as ceramics and designing cards.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Johnson of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Patricia Allen of Fairfax, Virginia, five granddaughters and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert N. Moore, her daughter Suzanne and grandson Adam.
