Mabel Amelia Davis

May 7, 1919 — August 26, 2011

Mabel Amelia Davis, 92, was born May 7, 1919 in Cooperton, Oklahoma, to Hazel Bay and Walter Baker. She had one brother, Clyde, who died a few years ago. She attended college at Cameron in Lawton, then completed her Bachelor's Degree at Central State in Edmond. Mabel got her Master's Degree at Southwestern in 1968. Her teaching career began at Lookeba, OK and spanned some 30 plus years, teaching not only here in Oklahoma, but also in France and England. She started teaching "Commerce" but later developed a much greater love to teach elementary -- specifically third grade. She retired from teaching in the early 1980's. She married Clyde Lester Davis on June 14, 1942 and they spent almost 59 years together before he died in 2001.
Mabel's family consists of 2 children:
Rex Davis, Midwest City, Oklahoma Kathy Ann Davis King, Poteau, Oklahoma,
4 grandchildren: Tamara Leigh Mendoza, Thomas Allen King, Jr. Brian Joseph King and his wife Katrina, and Kelly Dawn King
9 great grandchildren: Brianna, Alice, Hannah, Savannah, and Sariah King, Justin Bradley Davis, Shawn Robert Peltzer, Ashleigh Erin Peltzer, Cody Allen Peltzer
7 Great-Great Grandchildren: Cathryn Elizabeth Davis, Zachary Dean Stansberry, Devin Josiah Storey, Isiah Ambrose Davis, Isabelle Andrith Davis,
Kyleigh AbiGayle Peltzer

Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2011
Clumberland Presbyterian Church
Burns Flat, OK

Burial will follow in the Hobart Rose Cemetery under the direction of
Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart, OK.



The family will greet friends 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at Ray and Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart, OK
