Lynn Elizabeth Kelly, age 74, passed peacefully in her sleep on July 24, 2023. She was born Lois Lynn Downs in Buffalo, New York on September 15, 1948.
Lynn is survived by her two beloved daughters Jamie Lynn and husband Jimmy Hyatt and Erin Michele Kreisler of Oklahoma City and three grandchildren, Tucker Lee Kreisler, Jaylynn Elizabeth Hyatt, and Jenna Michele Hyatt who were her greatest joy. She is also survived by her siblings Cheryl Ann and husband Jack Helton, Gary Paul and late wife Barbara Downs, Kim Ellen and husband Leon Bridges, Kyle Ray Downs and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lynn is preceded in death by her parents Calvin Lee Downs Sr., Eleanor Verna (Willard) Downs, brother Calvin Lee Downs Jr. and husband Robert Lee Klaes.
She earned the name Purple Goddess, yet her favorite title was Purple Grandma. She became legendary for her love of all things Purple, the color of royalty. Rarely was she seen wearing anything other than purple and managed to decorate an entire apartment in every shade of purple. She never met a stranger and friends soon became family. With her sweet and sassy personality, she was quickly loved by all who met her.
Lynn was a Girl Scout, working for the San Jacinto Girl Scouts for over 40 years as a Leader for Troop 4065 and shop manager. Her favorite things in life involved all things crafty. She was a talented artist, published poet, seamstress, crocheter, and quilter. She loved sharing her creations with everyone she knew.
Lynn lived life through her strong faith and prayer. She was excited to meet God, knowing her salvation and hope came from her Lord and Savior.
Her Celebration of Life will be held on August 6, 2023, at Bethel Community Church in Yukon, OK at 3:00 pm, with another one held in her long-time home of Houston, TX at a later date.
