"Keta" as she was known for (84) eighty-four years was born in Sentinel on Flag Day. She grew up in the Port Community and participated in all activities of Port School and graduated with the proud class of 1950.
July 23, 2016, when the Lord called Keta to Heaven, she left a young name sake, a great-grandaughter, Lyla Ann Pierce and six grandchildren; Haylie and husband Greg Geske, Joshua Leonard and his wife, Tori Leonard, Cassie and husband Justin Pierce, Callie, John Thomas, and Leah Leonard. These six grandchildren are scattered on a trail from Baltimore to Memphis to the Piney Woods of East Texas over to San Antonio.
Port School boyfriend, Bill Tom Leonard and Keta married on December 1, 1950. From this marriage of 65 years, 8 months, and 23 days are a daughter Susie Light, and two sons, Allen and his wife Tonie, and John and his wife Renee.
Keta and Tom spent their early marriage years in Stillwater and Muskogee, Oklahoma. They made a move to Houston in the fall of 1959 and have lived in the Alief area until her death.
Rather she was a wife, mom, mother-in-law, cousin, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, or friend, she was always just your "Keta!"
