Lucille Clift, 90, a resident of Hemet, California, previously of Cyril, Oklahoma passed away at her home surrounded by her family and friends on September 25, 2013. She was born on March 23, 1923 in Fletcher, Okla. to Jim Williams and Gertrude Bedford Williams, who were Oklahoma pioneers. She graduated from Cyril High School in 1941 and married Woodrow Clift of Anadarko in 1942. She and her family moved to Alhambra, Calif. in 1945.
Mrs. Clift was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow; her daughter Meredith and her son Merrill. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Duris and husband Mike of Alta Loma, Calif.; her son Wayne Clift of Huntington Beach; her granddaughter Christine Hoffman of Elizabeth, Colorado; greatgrandchildren, Candice, Cole and Carly; and a host of nieces, nephews, sister and brother-in- laws. All she loved dearly.
Mrs. Clift was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who is remembered for her caring and warm personality. She always gave of herself, never asking anything in return. From her 40's and until she was 80, she and her husband provided 24 hour care for their infirm son and daughter. Her efforts were formally recognized in 1993 by the Visiting Nurse Association by awarding her as “Caregiver of the Yearâ€. This love and attention continued by caring for her husband at home until his death in 2008, when she was 85. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Viewing will be from 1â€" 9 p.m. on Sunday October 6, 2013 at Steverson Funeral Home in Anadarko. Funeral service will be held on Monday October 7, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Cowboy Country Church in Chickasha, with Pastor Lynn Walker, her nephew, officiating.
Burial will immediately follow at Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko, Oklahoma.
