Lucerne Dora (Mitchell) Knight, 90, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, said her last goodbyes on Friday June 25, 2021.
She was an esteemed educator, of over 30 years, who inspired many young lives throughout her life. She was a knowledgeable herbalist and mentor to so many lives. Even into her late 80's, you would find her trekking to Trujillo Meadows, CO to harvest various herbs that she would use and share with others. Her wisdom, kindness, generosity and gentleness were apparent in every relationship that she built.
She treasured being a wife, a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She served in a mother role to so many others beyond her nuclear family. She truly treasured relationships and fostered them with tremendous love, gentleness and grace.
Lucerne was a voracious reader for all of her life. She was interested in local and Native American history with a particular interest in the Choctaw and Kiowa Nation that were a part of her heritage. She was involved in many charities and was active in the neighborhood as a block captain for over 30 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband but leaves a memorable legacy behind to a son, daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter and those she gathered into her heart along the way.
Her funeral will be held in Carnegie, OK on July 3, 2021 with her family. A memorial service will be planned in the near future in Albuquerque, NM.
Under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home, Carnegie, OK.
