Leslie Edward "Les" Simmons, 76, long time resident of Hobart, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015, after a extended illness. He was born on August 23, 1939, in Waurika, Oklahoma. to Edward and Mae Simmons. Most people knew Les as an avid sports fan who could almost always be found watching some sort of game on tv. If you were watching with him, he'd usually root against your team just to push your buttons, unless of course your team was OU. Les was one of the biggest OU fans out there. If he could have said just one more word before leaving this world it probably would have been "BOOMER!"
Les is survived by his daughter: Crystal (Simmons) Barr and husband Dave, Pittsburgh, PA
three sons: Rick Handlin and wife Cheryl of Hope Mills, NC
Ronnie Handlin and wife Lisa, Hobart, OK
Clifton Smith,
two grandchildren: Nathan and Lillian Barr, Pittsburgh, PA
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Grace "Faye" Simmons, three sons, Melvin Smith, Charles Smith, and Bobby Handlin.
Graveside services: 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 20, 2015
Hobart Rose Cemetery, Hobart, OK
Burial will follow, under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart.
