Leroy Linstead

November 12, 1930 — July 24, 2022

LeRoy Linstead, 91, of Hobart, Oklahoma joined his heavenly father on July 24, 2022. LeRoy was born on November 12th, 1930, to Amil and Grace (Powell) Linstead in Hobart, Oklahoma. He married the love of his life, Rallene (Watkins) Linstead on March 23, 1952 at First Baptist Church in Hobart. Together they had 3 children; Sharon, Kurt and Greg. LeRoy was drafted into the United States Army and served during the Korean War from 1952-1954. He completed Basic Training and Tractor Scraper Training at the Sixth Armored Division, Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri before deploying to Eta Jima, Japan by ship in November 1952. There he served as an instructor for Tractor Scaper Training School where he provided both classroom and field instruction for the United States and International military. He had specialized knowledge around bulldozers, scrapers, graters, heavy equipment and cranes. His purpose was to train soldiers to enter where the fighting was taking place to clear the land for combat. Rallene joined LeRoy in Japan in 1953 where they lived and learned the culture until returning to Hobart in the spring of 1954 when Rallene was late in her pregnancy with Sharon.

LeRoy made his way of living by farming and ranching and thoroughly enjoyed it. He also enjoyed watching all things OU where he could become quite animated, especially if the Sooners were losing. He and Rallene traveled to all of Kurt and Greg's ballgames, often arriving before the team activity bus to the location. That love of sports continued with his grandchildren and during Greg's coaching years where you could find them seated hours before the game began. Both traveled to many dance recitals, school plays and church children's events. They also loved to travel and later in life, bought a motorhome and spent many summer and winter months in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado with family and friends.

LeRoy never let go of his longing to be back home in Hobart. He was diagnosed with cancer in June 2021 and circumstances surrounding he and Rallene's health meant they had to re-locate to Oklahoma City. It was never home. Home was Hobart surrounded by life-long friends. He and Rallene were able to make several trips to Hobart over the course of the past year and were always so joyful to see the house, the farms, friends, and ride around town reminiscing.

Leroy will be dearly missed by all of those who knew him. At last, he is Home with his family, especially Sharon and Kurt.

He is survived by his wife, Rallene; son Greg Linstead and wife, Lori ; daughter in law, Patti Linstead; son in law, Carl Reimer; Bryan Rogers and fiance, Keri Strunk; Elisa McCurley and husband Mike, Carson Linstead and wife, Bridget; Britton Young and husband Brandon; Lance Linstead; Grant Linstead and wife Kylie; granddaughter in love, Tracy Rogers. Great grandchildren include Bode Rogers; Jasmine, Audra and Lauren McCurley, Everett and Easton Young and Sloane Linstead.
