Leo Schantz

August 12, 1933 — July 25, 2021

On Sunday, July 25th, 2021, Leo Wayne Schantz, loving husband and father of three children passed away at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Leo was born on August 12, 1933 in Rocky, Oklahoma to Fred William and Mary Katherine (Wiebe) Schantz. Leo had a passion for the Lord and he made a profession of faith at a young age. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, there was never a morning without a bible devotion and prayer shared with his loved ones. He was an accomplished farmer as well as an insurance agent for Farmers Union for many years. He served as Deacon and Sunday School teacher at Sentinel First Baptist Church. Leo was a board member on Beckham County Rural Water District #1 and served as a board member of Rocky Co-op for several years. He was a veteran of the US army where he proudly served his country.
He loved big, and his heart was devoted to his loving wife, Charline. They accomplished many goals together while raising their three sons, Gaylon, Monte, and Conan. Through their later years, they treasured their time together, spending mornings in their chairs talking and drinking coffee. These are just a few of the memories that Charline will cherish for a lifetime. His sons remember their dad as hard working, devoted, and loving. Early morning and after work phone calls to catch up on "things going on with our families," words of encouragement, how to fix things, they needed help with. Greeting and leaving with hugs and kisses was always the norm at the "Schantz house." He always supported the boys and their families whether it was sports, life events, or graduations. His love carried onto his grandkids with countless tractor rides, silly songs, jokes, stories and numerous lake trips. Leo enjoyed talking about his kids and grandkids, and everyone close to him knew how proud of them he was.
He is survived by his wife Charline of 61 years, brother Alvin and his wife Leola, sons; Gaylon and wife Sonya, Monte and wife Darla, Conan and wife Tamara. Six grandsons, Tyler and his wife Lindsey, Tanner and his wife Darilyn, Brandon, Jake, Graysen and Garren, one grand daughter, Delanie, one great grand daughter Emma, one great grand son Ezra, three step granddaughters, two step great grandsons, three step great grand daughters and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father, Fred, and his mother Mary, brothers Lloyd, Ernest, Howard, Bonnie and Leland. Sisters, Lenora Goertz, Wanda Schantz, and Lucille Clark.
