LaVerne Lanford of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away on August 31, with her daughter and granddaughter by her side. She was born July 7, 1930, to Lonnie and Lizzie Wallace. LaVerne grew up in the Hester Community and then moved to Mangum where she finished her schooling. After graduating from high school in 1948, she entered business school in Oklahoma City. Upon return to Mangum LaVerne began her career in banking. She began working for the Noble family as a teller. Because of her dedication to the bank she was promoted to Vice President. LaVerne enjoyed working with the Mangum Alumni as treasurer for many years. Her whole career ended with retirement after 43 years. LaVerne kept busy helping her husband with farming and ranching. She also had special moments with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. LaVerne continued to be active with the community and her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jess, brother John Wallace, and a dear granddaughter Becky.
