Larry Thomas Whaley

August 15, 1944 — September 11, 2022

Larry Thomas Whaley, 78, of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, entered into the gates of Heaven on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at the Clinton Veteran's Center, Clinton, Oklahoma. He was born on August 15, 1944, to Paul and Bernice (Bartlett) Whaley, in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. Larry attended schools in Amarillo, Texas, Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, and Okmulgee Tech. Larry met the love of his life, Lanora (Ratliff) and they were united in marriage December 24, 1964, making their home in Oklahoma City. He was drafted into the United States Army August 23, 1966. He served his country in combat during the Vietnam Conflict, as a member of the Big Red One. Larry was wounded during the Vietnam conflict later receiving the Purple Heart. Larry and Lanora moved back to Fort Cobb in 1974.
He was employed at Nipak and King's Air Ag, Farm Stores in Fort Cobb, before finding his dream job delivering the mail in the Fort Cobb and Carnegie communities, where he loved being out every day seeing his customers.
He was an avid fisherman and gardener and loved sharing with his friends and families. One highlight was growing massive pumpkins each year for the Grandkids to enter in the fair.

Lavina Crowell and husband, Brett, Edmond, OK
Grandchildren: Danae Dupler and husband, Cody, Lawton, OK
Colt Darnell and wife, Crystal, Walters, OK
Logan Whaley, Davis, OK
Drew Whaley, Davis, OK
Lexie Crowell, Edmond, OK
Lily Crowell, Edmond, OK
Great Grandchildren: Abree, Daelynn, Ace, Decklyn, Hayden and Harlow
Sister: Paula Jackson, Mountain View, OK
Niece: Dedra Hill and husband, Mark, Dalhart, TX
Nephew: Russ Jackson and wife, Jani, Mountain View, OK
And numerous other nieces, nephews, family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lanora in 2000, his parents, Paul and Bernice Whaley, and brother-in-law, Ronnie Jackson.
We would like to issue a special thanks to the staff at the Clinton Veteran's Center, Shelbi Butler and all of the nurses and staff with Good Shepherd Hospice.
