Obituary for Kenneth "Ken" Dale George

Mr. George passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 peacefully at home. He was born June 29, 1952 in Hobart, Oklahoma to Kenneth E. George and Helen Sue George.
Ken was preceded in death by his Father and Mother. He is survived by his wife Laura George of Flint, Texas, sister Joyce Fischer, and husband Pete, of Mountain View, Oklahoma; brother, Jack George, and wife Janet, of Weatherford, Oklahoma; daughters Ashley Wood of Flint, Texas and Lisa Vaughn, and husband Matt, of Marlington, West Virginia; grandchildren Aiden, Madalyn, Maddie, Colt, and Stella.
Ken graduated from Mountain View High School in 1970 and University of Oklahoma in 1974. He loved and was an avid fan of the O-U Sooners. Ken enjoyed golfing with friends and family, especially with his grandson Aiden and was collector of Baseball memorabilia. Ken also shared in and supported his wife Laura's passion for Tyler Type One Diabetes Foundation.
Ken had recently retired from the banking industry after 40 years, with his last position being at American State Bank as Sr. Vice President. He held the position of City President with Capital One prior to American State Bank. Ken was involved in the community and received many awards for his tireless service. This included Score as Chairman and Certified Mentor, President of the BBB and CASA; Commerce Chairman with United Way; Council Chairman with the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce; Jaycees of Tyler and Wichita Falls. Ken had a heart of gold for the community and strived for excellence.
