Karen Sue Scott

Karen Sue Scott, 69, Hobart, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013, in Oklahoma City. She was born in Hobart, OK to Amil and Grace (Powell) Linstead on March, 7, 1944. Karen graduated from Hobart High School in 1962. She married Leo Scott on September 7, 1963 at the First Baptist Church in Hobart, OK. She and her husband Leo were seldom separated and enjoyed camping and traveling when they were younger. Karen worked for the Hobart Public School for 27 years managing the elementary cafeteria. She really enjoyed working at the cafeteria watching the kids grow. In her spare time she sold Avon and baked/decorated many birthday, anniversary and wedding cakes for people in Hobart and surrounding areas. Karen loved school class reunions , family gathering ( birthday, holidays) and community activities. She spent a great deal of time reading at the Hobart Library, worked and played games on the computer. Karen also enjoyed cooking, flower gardens, watching and ID different birds. She always looked forward to the holidays, especially Christmas, visiting with extended family/friends and their kids, she loved driving around town looking at Christmas lights and shopping. Karen loved visiting the Kiowa County Fair, playing Bingo and entering exhibits. She also provided genealogical information that was later published in "The Bursons Wider Branches". She was co-founder in the Kiowa County Geneological Society and was a member and president in the TOPS organization for many years. Karen has always had a very good humor and always smiling and seldom a loss of words. She was proud of her son and the many different activities, jobs, and education he received, when he was working on his PhD, Karen didn't like the distance between them, Hobart, OK to Starkville, MS. Karen helped with Girl Scouts and with Cub Scouts when Mike was a Cub Scout.

She is survived by her husband Leo Scott, of the home

one niece: Sharon Reimer and husband Carl, Hobart, OK
two nephews: Greg Linstead and wife Lori, Moore, OK
Kurt Lindstead and wife Patti, Weatherford, OK
two great nieces: Elisa Rogers and Britton Young and husband Brandon
four great nephews: Bryan Rogers and wife Tracy, Lance and Grant Linstead, and Carson Linstead
one great-great niece: Jasmine Rogers
one great-great nephew: Bode Rogers

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013
Washington Street Baptist Church, Hobart
Officiating: Rev. Chris Block
Burial will follow at Hobart Rose Cemetery, Hobart
under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart.
