Judy Dobbs Obituary

Judy Dobbs, a long-time resident of Cordell, Oklahoma, departed this life on Sunday, August 27th, 2017 at the age of 72. Judy was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on Sunday, January 28th, 1945 to Virgie Anderson tate and Lem A. Tate, Jr. Upon her father's discharge from the Navy, the family moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, and lived on the campus of Hardin College (now known as Midwestern University) while he completed his degree in the college of Horology. Judy spent all her schools years in Wichita Falls, leaving with her husband and son, Gregg, to move to Oklahoma in 1964. The couple had another child, a daughter, Shannon, in 1968.

In 1976, Judy embarked on what would be her career for the following 25 years, Commercial Construction. She was proud of the fact that she was the first female Commercial Construction Superintendent for Bank Building & Equipment Corporation of America. Local projects completed by her are First State Bank of Canute, and the addition to Cordell National Bank. She was superintendent on over 25 projects in Oklahoma, Texas, and Alabama.

Following her retirement from construction, Judy worked for Washita county in the County Clerk's Office for 16 years. She retired from the position of Purchasing Agent on March 31, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Husband in October 2015. They were together for over 30 years prior to his death. She was also predeceased by her parents and brother-in-law Dub Husband.

She is Survived by the lights of her life, her son, Gregg Dobbs and his wife, Vickie, of Yukon, her daughter, Shannon Hill and her husband Kenneth of Erick, step daughter Tracy Nichols and her husband Kevin of Holliday, Texas, as well as grandchildren Sarah Dawn Brown, Rhett Hill and wife Amanda, all of Arapaho, and Carrie Sinclair of Midwest City, and great grandchildren Megan and Madeline Williams, Aiden Lavelle, Marley and Ryan Hill, Nicholas Frey, and Lauren Sinclair. She is also survived by her amazing and loving sisters Karen Alexander and partner Hank Waddell of Austin, Texas, their children Erin (Tootie) Schroeder and husband Chuck of Leander, Texas, and Brian Alexander of Leander, Texas, sister Deborah Korndorffer and husband Bob of LaMarque, Texas, their children Kathleen Mann and husband Jason of LaMarque, Texas, Joel Byrne of Dickinson, Texas, and Rebecca Fowler and Husband Trevor of Dickinson, Texas, along with great nieces and nephews Brooke and Grant Schroeder, and Bryce Fowler. Judy is also survived by brother-in-law Perrie Husband, his daughter Cindy McGuire and husband Doug of Cordell, their children Kris McGuire and wife Candace of San Diego, California, Michelle Nance and Husband John of Cordell, and Justin McGuire and wife Kia of Cordell, sister-in-law Deanna Husband of Cordell, and her daughter Wendy Putman and husband Robert of Cordell, and their son, Rhett.

What Judy loved the most in her life was her time with family, the best family anyone could ever imagine. They spent many hours fishing, hunting quail, snow skiing, water skiing, going to the beach, playing music , following jeep trails in the mountains, and having parties with lots of good food! But it was always good just to be together. Life was good!

Judy wanted a celebration of life, not a memorial service. The celebration will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers and plants, Judy would rather have donations made to the Cordell Animal Shelter Project in her name. She was a life long animal lover and loved the work that CASP was doing in the community.
